Safety across the curriculum
At Woodlands, safeguarding is our primary concern and to this end, we have created opportunities for children to develop their knowledge and understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe; including road safety and knowing when and how to call the emergency services.
We have a robust RSHE programme that includes teaching a unit in each year group called ‘Healthy me’. Under this theme, children across the school learn in an age appropriate way about the dangers of misusing drugs and alcohol, amongst other important messages.
Online safety is another big part of this work. We follow Project Evolve and use this scheme to proactively explore a range of themes, including online relationships and online bullying.
Attached below, is our strategic plan but in addition to this we respond to incidents that arise within school, the community or in the news.
