Religious Education

At Woodlands we believe that all children should learn about religion. We are a Christian school but we also learn about other principal religions. We believe that by learning about religions we can learn from them, developing respect and sensitivity for those with beliefs different from our own. As we have children of many different faiths, we also feel it is important to celebrate different festivals that are relevant to our community such as Eid and Chinese New Year, alongside the traditional Christian festivals.

In our Religious Education lessons we engage children with challenging questions and issues of right and wrong. We offer opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development through daily collective worship, encouraging children to develop their sense of identity and belonging.

At Woodlands Primary School we actively promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all our children. This is done through establishing our strong school ethos which is supported by effective relationships and a broad and balanced curriculum within and beyond the classroom. Through ensuring the development of SMSC we can also demonstrate the promotion of British values and how we continue to work as a team to maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour.
